Team working is pivotal to the success of public procurement, and the Procurement Team of the Year Award recognises the power and potential of a focused and unified approach.

This Award recognises leadership, communication, innovation, collaboration, personal development and a collective team ethic and approach to deliver excellence in public services. 

Teams can be virtual as well as single site and cover single or multiple organisations; but they must comprise of individuals working towards the same objective or goal. Submissions can cover a specific project or initiative delivered by a team or focus on its overall approach and success.

Recognition is given based on the accomplishments of the team in relation to its size and the complexity of its procurement activities. Evidence of gains made through a team approach should be provided to substantiate the entry.

Open to: Scottish public sector organisations or Scottish public organisations working in partnership with the private or voluntary sector.

Timescale: A GO Awards submission in this category must cover activity during the period July 2022 to January 2024.

Please provide an overview of the procurement team including the team size, key roles and the number of procurement exercises undertaken annually. Please also explain any specific attributes that you believe are unusual or unique, including details of any apprenticeships or emerging talent within the team. (This answer will not be scored)

Please provide details of any specific procurement exercise or initiative that the team has undertaken, that demonstrates their skills, expertise and innovative approach to achieving successful outcomes.

Please provide details of how the procurement team’s approach can be viewed as creative, innovative and effective and the aims and deliverables that were desired and achieved, either over a specific period of time or through a specific procurement initiative.

Please explain how the procurement team has demonstrated levels of performance, capability and commitment that go beyond that expected, including examples of teamworking and collaboration. Please include details of any benefits that this approach has achieved.

Please provide an example of how the procurement team has managed any unexpected challenge(s) within a procurement exercise and the steps taken to ensure that a successful outcome was achieved.

Please provide evidence of specific targets set and performance or other measurable benefits achieved by the procurement team.
